On 2 September, Dragon Trail helped to launch the inaugural Festival Brasil at Beijing’s 798 Art District. A flagship event of the 2026 China-Brazil Cultural Year, this is the first national-level, comprehensive cultural event Brazil has ever held in full scale in China. The Festival is jointly presented by Brazil’s Ministry of Culture, Embratur (Brazilian Tourist Board), and Itaipu Binacional.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks from distinguished guests – including Marcos Galvão, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to China; Cecília Sá, Deputy Secretary of Cultural Spaces and Equipment at the Ministry of Culture of Brazil; Simone Scorsato, International Events Manager at Embratur and Curator of the Brazil Flying Rivers Exhibition; and Aline Teigão de Albuquerque, Manager of Tourism Initiatives at Itaipu Binacional. Industry experts, artists, media representatives, and members of the public joined the opening festivities to witness this significant moment of China-Brazil cultural exchange.

The Festival brings the immersive themed exhibition “Brazil Flying Rivers”, to Beijing’s 798 Art District from 2-6 September 2026, with photography, embroidery installations of indigenous handicraft, and an immersive Iguazu Falls exhibition hall, complemented by physical displays and interactive experiences.

Alongside the exhibition, the Festival features five days of live performances by renowned Brazilian musicians, and intangible-cultural-heritage performances of capoeira (Brazilian martial dance) and maculelê (stick dance). Meanwhile, a series of academic forums and cultural-tourism workshops with senior members of China’s travel industry are being held in parallel, featuring in-depth discussions on ecological conservation, sustainable development, artistic innovation, and China-Brazil cultural-tourism cooperation.

Brazil became visa-free for Chinese tourists in May 2026 and has been one of the fastest-growing global destinations for Chinese tourism. OTA Qunar reported a 95% year-on-year increase in flight bookings to Brazil during the 2026 May Labor Day holiday.
